The 37th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for the Study of Xenobiotics
Hideki Hirabayashi, President of the Annual Meeting
(Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics Research Laboratories,
Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited)

Dear Sir/Madam
We are pleased to announce that the 37th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for the Study of Xenobiotics will be held at the Pacifico Yokohama Conference Center in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, from Monday, November 7, 2022, to Thursday, November 10, 2022, including a joint short course on the first day of the event.
Due to the impact of COVID-19, the 35th and 36th Annual Meetings were unfortunately held online. During the period of self-restraint with respect to interaction, new modes of communication, mainly online, were established. However, many researchers are eager to return to face-to-face meetings. Therefore, this year's meeting will be the first on-site meeting in three years, and preparations are underway.
The central theme of the annual meeting will be titled, “Charting the Future Course of Pharmacokinetic Research in the Era of New Therapeutic Modalities: A Celebration of Cutting-Edge Technology to Know, Learn, and Connect,” in keeping with the image of the port city of Yokohama where the meeting will be held. With the advent of new medical modalities, drug discovery researchers are like travelers sailing into uncharted waters, excited by the spirit of adventure and exploration. At the same time, many may wonder where to head in a vast ocean. We want to make this conference a gathering of the most advanced technologies that will serve as a compass and light the way forward for such researchers.
We have prepared several sessions to provide a bird’s eye view of cutting-edge technologies in Japan and overseas and their practical application in drug discovery. In particular, we will invite researchers who are at the forefront of cell therapy products and new pharmacokinetic evaluation technologies, which are currently creating new trends in drug discovery, to speak at special sessions. In addition, by providing many opportunities to learn about the peripheral technologies that support these cutting-edge innovations and actually “connect,” we hope that this conference will serve as an invitation for new drug discovery innovations in the 2020s.
In Kanagawa Prefecture, the venue of the Annual Meeting, the Life Innovation Center, and Shonan Health Innovation Park are operated, making it one of the leading centers of life science networks in Japan. The venue is conveniently located and allows access from various directions, and there are many sightseeing opportunities nearby. It will be a perfect four days for participants to enjoy the celebration of science and technology at the Annual Meeting, refresh themselves away from their daily research, accumulate new ideas, and inspire their passion for research. We are also planning a welcome reception that includes a night view of Yokohama and a cruise party.
We hope to see many of you and make new connections here in Yokohama.
Respectfully yours
